I was so honoured to have been invited as a visiting artist to carry out practical workshops at St. Aloysius’ College, Glasgow. This school has a Japanese club led by then an art teacher Mrs. Datlen – I was welcomed by a group of very friendly students in Japanese with Japanese green-tea sweeties!
My workshops at school usually start off by Q&A sessions about different aspects of Japan which students are interested in. During the workshops, I have taught 2 classes and they all made hanging santa boots for their Christmas trees. Such a joyful time to see them focusing on just a piece of paper which involves all sorts of mathematical, observation, listening skills..
