“Pirate Ship”

One day I was catching up with some orders on the table – alongside me I found my 3-year-old daughter started working on her own wee origami project. I would try to teach her how to fold very simple animals but she refused and then came up with this amazing sculpture – titled as ‘Pirate Ship’. I realised again that small children don’t really need the instructions of ‘how to’ as they’ve already possessed infinite possibilities within them and this power would come out naturally/freely when I was not trying to ‘control’ what I ‘wanted’ her to make. Origami today showed us a great new way of story-making too – after one fold and another, she would tell me what she was making and where this pirate ship was heading to when asked.
